The Global Trading business within BlackRock Global Markets executes trades on behalf of all portfolio management teams at the firm. The team is organized along regions and asset classes, providing the best service to our investment teams and achieving optimal outcomes for our clients. As the largest asset manager in the world, BlackRock traded approximately $15.7 trillion in notional volume in 2022. Business Unit Overview:

The FX and Fixed Income Trading team in Tokyo executes FX, FI cash, and derivative products on behalf of BlackRock clients. This includes substantial volumes of spot FX, FX forwards, government and corporate cash bonds, exchange traded and OTC derivatives. The desk supports a variety of investment teams, including Fundamental, Model Based, long only funds, ETFs, and Index funds.

Responsibilities:

  • Seek to provide ‘best execution’ across a range of FX and fixed income instruments for all BlackRock’s internal businesses.

  • Manage orders and trade flow in a logical, risk-controlled manner with a focus on fiduciary responsibilities.

  • Support investment teams in terms of information flow, trade ideas, and data requests.

  • Monitor market activity in areas of specialization and provide feedback to portfolio managers.

  • Pro-actively contribute to the investment process to both reduce transaction costs and identify alpha opportunities.

  • Improve and enhance execution processes while reducing market and operational risk.

  • Ad hoc client engagement as required by investment team and client businesses.

  • Oversee day-to-day administrative issues in support of trading activities and liaise with trading operations.

  • Work with internal systems/technology/research teams to innovate systems, trading analytics and coordinate implementation.

  • Meet both local and regional regulatory requirements by partnering with Legal and Compliance teams.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in relevant subject with quantitative content. CFA qualification/part qualification would be an advantage.

  • Excellent analytical skills applied in a practical environment.

  • Highly computer literate, with advanced spreadsheet-based skills. Coding skills would be a plus.

  • Effective communication skills in both English and Japanese and demonstrated ability to work with multiple partners and stakeholders.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative, global environment.

  • Basic understanding of bond mathematics, basics of FX and rates derivatives, macro risk factors and implications for risk management.

  • Enthusiastic and positive approach to market challenges.

  • Well organized, disciplined approach to work with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Strong work ethic with high level of self-motivation.
