Business Unit Overview:

BlackRock Equity Private Markets (“EPM”) is the group of investments of private equity and real estate equity (“EPM Investment Strategies”) at BlackRock. EPM group has many offices in the world including New York, London, Hong Kong, and Japan, with total AUM of approximately $75 billion across a range of commingled funds and separate accounts. This open role is within product strategists team of EMP group. BlackRock’s alternative platform is a fast growing business unit within BlackRock offering institutional and retail clients access to liquid, illiquid solutions, providing investments from a broad and deep suite of products and investment partnership opportunities.

Role Overview:

BlackRock EPM group is seeking a highly motivated individual interested in working in a fast-paced, fluid environment as a member of a closely knit team. The role will include supporting global Investor Relations team of EPM Investment Strategies and coordinating with Client Business Group and Alternative Specialist Team in Japan in client-facing activities with a focus on servicing Japan based clients. The candidate will be responsible for the entire fundraising cycle including developing marketing and proposal materials, and eventually servicing a broad array of clients from large institutions to high net worth individuals in Japan. The role requires developing a broad understanding of EPM Investment Strategies while also paying attention to detail in day-to-day action items and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in general client service activities including:

  • Answering LP inquiries

  • Editing and reviewing RFPs

  • Assisting in annual LP event planning

  • Preparing and, over time, conducting client portfolio reviews

  • Implement quarterly performance updates across marketing materi als, including: Client / product Japanese presentations, Fact sheets,Team-related materials, and Performance data analysis and benchmarking

  • Review quarterly data packs for accuracy and formatting

  • Support market research and provide updates in presentations and quarterly investment reports

  • Support fundraising activities

  • Work with partners to manage client relationships in Japan

  • Help organize road shows across client channels

  • Help prepare customized presentations

  • Work closely with client distribution channel and global investment team to ensure client meeting follow-ups are tracked and completed

  • Lead and / or assist with special projects involving Japan EPM business

  • Close collaboration with global partners and able to work across multiple stakeholders

Requirements:

  • At least 7 - 10 years of related experience within the Financial Services industry.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate ability to communicate at all levels, internally and externally such as client business team, clients, and consultants.

  • Experience in institutional investment including a client focused approach to investment solutions and client servicing.

  • Ability to cover multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven team player with strong interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit and is willing to assume additional responsibilities

  • Full proficiency in PowerPoint, strong Excel skills

  • The ideal candidate has a strong interest in the private equity market as well as an understanding of the private placement and fundraising process with institutions and individual investors.

  • The candidate has to be detail oriented, mature and professional. He / she should be deadline driven, accurate and able to handle confidential information with the utmost respect.

  • An ability to appropriately prioritize is crucial.

  • The ideal candidate should be self-directed and feel comfortable asking questions and taking the initiative to get projects completed accurately and on time.

  • MBA, CFA or CAIA preferred.
