Position overview:
With the continuous growth of BlackRock Private Market solutions to clients, we are seeking a candidate to drive the establishment of a Private Markets client delivery platform in APAC to support the desired re-up rate of +70%. This position includes responsibilities and oversight across two main functions:
Alternatives Client Platform (“ACP”) - supports the coordination and administration of the investor communication programmed to ensure a best-in-class client experience for BlackRock’s Private Markets investors. Responsible for a wide range of activities, including production of client & fund reports, marketing collateral and presentations, maintaining platform data and analytics and the roll out of innovative technologies to create a scalable platform.
Alternatives Client Services (“ACS”) - supports the investor onboarding and account servicing for BlackRock’s Private Markets investors. Responsibilities include issuing capital call/distribution notices, shareholder reporting, managing day-to-day investor queries, client onboarding, and transfer agency oversight.
Reporting to the Global Head of ACS/ACP based in the US and locally to the Head of Private Markets Strategy & Capital Markets in Asia-Pacific, this position will focus on building and leading a team to deliver a market-leading APAC client experience through establishing the presence of ACP/ACS in APAC.
The candidate will focus on designing and implementing the future growth of the client delivery platform, servicing the existing APAC alternatives clients across BlackRock and working closely with other BlackRock teams such as Product Strategy, Alternatives Specialist Team (“AST”), Client Relationship Management and Client Experience Management.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy and execution
Contribute to the Alternatives sales strategy across APAC by expanding ACS/ACP presence in APAC to provide localized support to our Product Strategy, Client Business and Client Experience teams.
Create, drive and oversee the client reporting strategy in APAC to address existing reporting challenges to streamline and build scale and efficiency
In partnership with Client Business, Client Experience and Product Strategy teams, establish a robust governance framework to assess and approve new customized client reporting requests
Create a best-in-class reporting offering in local languages (Korean, Japanese, Chinese, etc) across Private Markets asset classes in partnership with internal stakeholder teams and other regional translation initiatives
Build deep product knowledge and technical expertise on our current APAC Alts client investments to inform changes needed in the preparation, quality control and distribution of client reporting deliverables.
Team management
Build out a team in APAC to be accountable for identified local & regional tasks and plugging into the global ACP/ACS teams efficiently to provide regional servicing.
Identify the talent profile needed for the new team and execute a hiring and location strategy to grow the team with the expertise and qualifications needed.
Regional leadership
Partner with ACP/ACS leadership and adhere to global standards and procedures whilst continuously improving the quality of client deliverables and adopting to local APAC jurisdiction requirements as needed
Proactively maintain relationships with key stakeholders including senior leaders, investment teams, CX leadership, and others.
Be a trusted partner and advisor for all strategic conversations with the business on evaluating potential new fund launches or existing clients to new private markets opportunities in APAC and impact to operational teams with a solutions and innovation mindset.
Be the champion and voice of alternatives clients in APAC for ACS/ACP driven projects to access impact and raise any potential issues to Leadership.
Be a senior member of the APAC T&O team and promote partnership and synergies between functions.
Qualifications:
10+ years’ experience within the financial services industry.
In-depth understanding of alternative asset classes (Private Equity, Private Credit, Real Estate, Infrastructure and Hedge Funds) especially of operational complexity including reporting deliverables
Demonstrate a deep understanding of BlackRock’s suite of alternative products and solutions is preferred
Experience of collaboration between multiple internal stakeholders, both regionally and globally.
Leadership experience with a track record of successful people management outcomes.
Ability to lead by example with high ethical standards and a strong work ethic.
Evidence strong intellectual ability.
Capacity to move fluently between tasks, handling multiple stakeholders in parallel to provide a value-added perspective and deliverables
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects within agreed timelines
Very strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to understand and clearly articulate sophisticated concepts, ideas, and processes
