Team Overview

BlackRock SMA Solutions helps clients customize portfolios for unique tax, values-alignment, or investment exposures across direct indexing, fixed income, active equity, and multi-asset. As a software engineer focusing on the quality of our products, you will be a part of our highly collaborative engineering team, focusing on our Salesforce implementation. Your main responsibility will be collaborating with various stakeholders to determine our quality metrics, develop the platform and tools required to measure and monitor them, and lead any improvement effort required to deliver them. You will play a key role in ensuring that every release of our software performs as specified by the business owners, and fulfils our high standards in security, accuracy, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish automated test framework, processes, and practices for SMA Solutions’ Salesforce implementation.

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce quality metrics.

  • Drive overall quality process by advocating discipline in versioning, documentation, and deployment processes.

  • Collaborate with the Data and System Development teams to understand Salesforce changes and coordinate any necessary deployments on our internal systems

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for Salesforce Suite of applications using JavaScript/TypeScript/Java

  • Utilize Cucumber for behavior-driven development (BDD) to enhance collaboration between technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Implement and execute automated tests for APIs to ensure the seamless integration and functionality of Salesforce applications

  • Develop and execute test plans tailored to Salesforce-specific functionalities

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product owners, and business analysts, to ensure a comprehensive understanding of testing requirements

  • Clearly communicate testing progress, issues, and resolutions to relevant stakeholders

  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, tools, and best practices related to QA automation

  • Actively contribute to the enhancement of the overall testing process and framework

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ten plus years of software testing or software development.

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, Math, or related fields; or equivalent industry experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills for building strong partnership with our business teams, influencing changes, and advocating software-quality-related values and principles.

  • Intimate familiarity with quality metrics: escaped defects, reliability, repeatability, resiliency

  • Deep understanding of the Salesforce development ecosystem: Apex, Lightning and Lightning Web Components, Aura

  • Deep understanding of Salesforce data access methods: query languages (SOQL and SOSL), API technologies (SOAP and REST API)

  • Expertise in test frameworks, e.g. Selenium, Playwright

  • Expertise with object-oriented languages, e.g. Python, Javascript, Typescript, Java

  • Strong foundation in RDBMS and SQL

  • Discipline with good programming or scripting practices and tools: code review, distributed repositories (Mercurial, Git), CI techniques and tools.

Highly Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Related experience in the financial or investment sector is a big plus

  • DevOps skills to support development and deployment of our test suites.

  • Familiarity with Agile software development process desirable

  • Experience in security testing desirable

  • Certifications in quality-related frameworks, e.g. Six-sigma, ISTQB

For California only the salary range for this position is $161,500 - $200,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
