About this role

Role Description:

This person will be a key member of the iShares Trading & Markets team within ETF and Index Investment (EII) Global Markets. The Trading & Markets team focuses on protecting and growing iShares primary and secondary market trading, on behalf of its clients.

Acting as an interface between external trading firms, market infrastructure and portfolio management, this team member will require outstanding collaborative skills and the ability to partner with a broad range of stakeholders. This person will be accountable for analyzing and understanding the technical nuances of ETF trading, spanning all asset classes. Protecting the primary market platform through risk management is a core function of the role; this person will be required to lead the team in responding to a broad range of market events and disruptions, requiring the ability to operate and show sound judgement whilst under pressure.

In addition, the candidate will contribute to the maintenance and prioritization pipeline for the businesses’ risk management/ trading market quality platform, hence project management skills are equally critical.

Responsibilities:

  • Be an ETF trading subject matter expert and demonstrate in-depth product knowledge to promote efficient ETF trading and differentiate iShares from competitor funds and other investment vehicles.

  • Collaborate with external market makers and the equity exchanges, grow those relationships, and collectively drive strategies which can improve ETF trading efficiency.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders including product development teams and portfolio managers to implement product design and trading process improvements.

  • Partner with technology teams and global colleagues to manage a technology pipeline and test and implement key enhancements to our market quality platform.

  • Support sales teams by presenting to institutional clients on the firm’s differentiating risk management/market quality function.

  • Collect, analyze and extract meaning from ETF trading data in an effort to produce relevant content and drive inflow.

  • Monitor articles, white papers, and blogs that highlight potential issues with ETFs and help to coordinate the proper response, ensuring consistency with our global message.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • BA / BS in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or similar field.

  • 5+ years of direct ETF trading or equity exchange experience is desirable.

  • Series 7 and 63 required (may be obtained post-hire)

  • In-depth experience in ETF and/or fixed income trading and/or overall knowledge of the Exchange Traded Product marketplace.

  • Strong financial analysis skills with a passion/interest for investments.

  • Able to multi-task and work effectively at various levels of an organization.

  • Experience working on or leading strategic project teams.

  • Writing and editorial skills combined with interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Resourceful, proactive and able to prioritize and navigate in a fast-paced team oriented environment.

  • Skillful in working with Microsoft Office and Bloomberg.
