BlackRock Analyst - Application Engineer in San Francisco, California

About this role

Team Overview:

The Web Tech Engineering team is responsible for providing a proven software technology platform serving 134 public-facing websites of our company under the blackrock.com and ishares.com domains.

These websites serve around 4 million individual visits per month, providing comprehensive data about our investment funds on 160 000 so-called product pages, enable roughly 1500 updates of web content and 10000 document uploads daily, as well as provide authentication for more than 600 000 registered users globally.

As an Application Engineering Analyst, you will:

  • Have hands on experience in software design and development of enterprise level system

  • Plan, document, and conduct unit testing, perform peer code review

  • Understand existing systems and resolve operations issues while working with other support staff located across the globe

  • Follow and improve coding standards

  • Provide development estimates on projects and tasks

  • Work with multi-functional teams

  • Identify, investigate, and resolve data discrepancies by finding the root cause of issues

What You'll Need:

  • B.S. and or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject area

  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Java/Spring architecture design and development

  • Working knowledge of Spring modules like Core, MVC etc.

  • Knowledge of web application development technologies like HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax and JSON

  • Experience with Angular 2 and/or React JS and TypeScript is a strong plus

  • Working knowledge of APIs and understanding of HTTP and REST architecture

  • Experience in writing complex SQL, stored procedures in MS SQL Server or Sybase

  • Proven understanding of JUnit, Spring Unit, or similar applications

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Must have strong partnership, effective written and verbal communication skills, and time management abilities

  • Knowledge and interest in the financial services industry domain strongly recommended

For California only the salary range for this position is $111,500 - $132,500. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
