Your Team

The Global Workplace Experience team is responsible for delivery of a workplace environment for employees and visitors that is customer focused, enables productivity, reflects the BlackRock culture, and operates with efficiency. The team works with stakeholders, internal partners, and vendors to ensure consistent service delivery and provide a well-managed workplace that meets business needs. With in Workplace Experience, the Global Planning, Design & Construction (PD&C) team is responsible for the planning and execution of capital projects, which includes requests for space alterations, renovation projects and fit out of new office locations. Additionally, PD&C owns and implements global space and design standards for BlackRock offices.

Your Role and Impact

Over the last 3 years, BlackRock has experienced significant headcount growth and transformed its workplace dramatically. The Workplace Design Lead has responsibility for BlackRock’s Global Workplace Design Standards and furniture programs. The position reports into the Global Head of Planning, Design and Construction (PD&C) and will work closely with PD&C Regional Leads and other functional leads within Workplace Experience, Real Estate, Enterprise Services, and Digital Workplace. You will be an ambassador and subject matter expert on the design and space standards, leading to bring consistency and functionality to support BlackRock’s flexible workplace.

Your Responsibilities

Program ownership of BlackRock’s Global Workplace Design Standards. Responsible for design consistency for architecture, furniture, interior design, and signage across projects globally. Ensure alignment and coordination on standards and specifications with other functions, i.e., MEP, Health & Safety, Sustainability and Technology. Provide design support for all real estate projects. Work closely with the D&C regional leads in the Americas, EMEA and APAC to ensure consistent application of the design standards globally.

Manage the furniture program and maintain list of current products that are functional, cost effective, meets standards and part of one of BlackRock’s global furniture agreements.

Partner with H&S on creating solutions for ensuring an inclusive environment from a workplace design perspective. Support the evaluation of furniture to meet ergonomic requirements.

Be a partner and design resource to Workplace Experience colleagues, who operate our facilities.

Manage BlackRock’s Global Art Program. Work with the Art Curator on the acquisition of new art and management of existing collection. Ensure alignment with BlackRock’s brand and standards. Develop and manage the annual global art budget.

Leverage design tools like Saltmine and Revit for internal design reviews using 3D models and renderings.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design, or related field from an accredited college.

6-8 years of progressive advancement in design management in the design and construction of office interiors.

Experience with the office furniture industry, knowledge of current products and trends in workplace flexibility design.

Experience in sustainable office design. LEED or similar accreditation is preferred but not required.

Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels within the organization.

Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.

Financial management skills, experience managing budgets and partnering with procurement team.

Organized and detailed with prioritizing, and multi-tasking skills.

Knowledge and experience in developing and delivering alternative workplace strategies.

Experience working in a matrix environment.

Experience working in multiple cities and countries.

Self-motivation and flexibility, and ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative team environment.

An ability to think strategically and develop tactical implementation plans.

An ability to build collaborations across multiple functions and at all levels, both within and outside of the company

Experience with MS Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Revit, Saltmine, Procore and space management systems

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $158,500. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
