This program is aimed to help participants renew their:

Whether this pilot returnship leads to a full-time career, or serves to sharpen the skills necessary to take the next step, it will be a valuable experience for participants to build their career portfolio.

Please note that while we hope to be able to offer the best performers opportunities to stay on full-time at BlackRock, participation in the pilot returnship does not guarantee a permanent position.

Team & Position Overview

Client Portfolio Solutions (CPS) is a BlackRock investment group focused on delivering whole-portfolio asset allocation and portfolio construction services and solutions to meet our clients’ growing demand for outcome-oriented investment solutions in the face of challenging markets, greater complexity and rising regulatory scrutiny.

CPS provides a single point-of-contact for custom portfolio construction, with individual Client Chief Investment Officers offering multi-asset expertise and owning the design, delivery and performance of custom portfolio solutions for our clients. These experts are segmented by client channels, including DC and Wealth Management Platforms, Pensions, Insurance, Foundations & Endowments, Family Office, Official Institutions and Multi-nationals. CPS is also organized into three major regions – Americas, EMEA and APAC – with teams responsible for qualifying client inquiries and identifying solutions that recognize the importance of understanding and addressing client needs and preferences through a local lens.

CPS brings together the best of BlackRock’s real-world investment expertise, premier asset allocation and macro research, and industry-leading risk analysis capabilities to offer our clients a holistic, differentiated portfolio construction experience. Our team is made up of experts in strategic asset allocation design who partner with investment professionals in Fixed Income, Active Equity, ETF and Index, Multi-Asset Strategies and Alternative asset classes to blend multiple sources of return to maximize long-term performance. We draw on the insights and thought leadership of our Portfolio Research Group, a dedicated capability within the BlackRock Investment Institute to provide clear, unified portfolio construction and asset allocation best practices for our investment teams and clients. The Client Fulfilment team works within Client Portfolio Solutions to oversee and manage the implementation of Client Portfolio Solutions engagements and similar assignments. Rooted in BlackRock’s longstanding culture of objective problem-solving, the Client Fulfilment team collaborates across the firm to ensure an outstanding client experience and ensure consistency and best practice across the range of Client Portfolio Solutions’ services.

We are seeking a candidate to join the Client Fulfillment team in New York for a short term assignment focused on enhancing our client analytics and reporting. We are seeking someone, who is curious, innovative, challenges the status quo and a problem solver. During this project, the candidate will work to incorporate manager research and other industry analytics into our client reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use technical skills to ensure the accuracy data sets, automate processes with scripts and macros and efficiently query information for reporting

  • Provide clients insights through portfolio analytics related to investment performance analysis and attribution

  • Review industry performance metrics and deliver additional analytical insights to our clients through optimized reporting and data visualization

  • Collaborate with BlackRock’s network of smart analytics and data teams to leverage the firm’s analytical and quantitative research capabilities

  • Participate in firm wide working groups to connect CPS initiatives with existing infrastructure and reporting tools (Next Gen, Aladdin for Wealth)

Skills and Qualifications

  • 2+ years voluntary career break

  • 7+ years’ experience in the financial services industry or relevant business management experience

  • Asset management or financial services experience, preferably across multiple asset classes and investment disciplines

  • Solid understanding of financial markets and investments (i.e. understanding of Fixed Income, Equities, Alternatives)

  • Knowledge of financial products in Fixed Income, Equities and Derivatives, and familiarity with Risk analytics such as Durations, Spread, Beta and VaR would be an advantage

  • Understanding of performance measures and / or prior experience with business modeling techniques and/or attribution tools

  • Ability to work with large data sets and experience in automation

  • Flexible, responsive and self-starting personality. Demonstrated experience working both independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative, global environment

  • Knowledge of eVestment, Morningstar, Bloomberg, Tableau, VBA, SQL,and/or Python is an advantage
