BlackRock Fundamental Fixed Income (FFI) - Director, Leveraged Finance Research in New York, New York

The BlackRock's Fundamental Fixed Income handles more than $1.2 trillion in fixed income assets across index, active, and systematic strategies. The platform offers an array of fixed income products designed to meet specific client risk and return profiles. Incorporating the expertise of BlackRock's sector specialists, each client portfolio is tailored to reflect specific investment guidelines and objectives with respect to interest rate exposure, sector allocation, and credit quality.

Our Leveraged Finance platform manages high yield bonds, leveraged loans, and CLO’s. The team is global with investment professionals in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. This is an Director position within the Lev Fin Research Team in New York.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume industry coverage and apply that knowledge to diligence opportunities within the High Yield and Leveraged Loan markets and evaluate relative value across capital structures

  • Work directly with members of portfolio management team within BlackRock’s Lev Fin business to underwrite credit risk related to high yield and loan positioning within dedicated Leveraged Finance portfolios and across BlackRock’s Credit platform

  • Partner with BlackRock’s Capital Markets group and external business partners on opportunities in new issue bonds and leveraged loans

  • Oversee and lead junior credit research team members to help mentor, train, and develop new talent

  • Maintain strong relationships with Product Strategists, Portfolio Managers, Capital Markets, Legal, and others who support the Leveraged Finance business

  • Develop thematic materials to share sector-level insights across internal constituencies and in external client communications

Key Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics with superior academic record

  • 7+ years of relevant and similar experience working as a research analyst in the High Yield and Leveraged Loan market

  • Comfort and ability to understand and communicate covenants

  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and interpersonal skills are paramount

  • Proficient in Bloomberg, Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Aladdin platform preferred, not required

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $205,000 - $260,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
