Business Unit Overview:

BlackRock Climate Infrastructure is a division within BlackRock’s infrastructure investment group. Since its establishment in 2011, BlackRock’s infrastructure investment group has become one of the leading platforms in the industry, managing assets on behalf of institutional and retail investors across the world. BlackRock’s infrastructure investment group encompasses various strategies, including direct private equity, private debt, public securities, and multi-manager investing, executed through commingled funds and separately managed accounts.

Job Purpose/Background:

An opportunity arises to join the Climate Infrastructure Portfolio Financial Management (PFM) team within BlackRock Infrastructure, a team of 12 which primarily provides financial, operational and administrative support for the Climate Infrastructure business within BlackRock. The role will report to the Head of PFM but will work independently to support the investment and operations teams as necessary. The role is New York City based.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provision of assistance to the transaction teams as appropriate, including the coordination of the operational elements of investment activities.

  • Financial control and oversight over a portfolio of renewable energy and supporting infrastructure platforms and assets.

  • Monitor performance of platforms and assets against multiple benchmarks and KPI’s.

  • Effective communication of asset performance to Senior Management, Investors and the Team.

  • Managing and forecasting cashflows to optimize investor returns.

  • Review and implementation of annual budgets for all portfolio assets.

  • Work with the legal and tax teams to define the appropriate investment structure, assist entity set ups as required and ensure funding flows are clearly understood, documented and followed.

  • Integration of newly acquired portfolio assets into BlackRock.

  • Liaise with third party administration, platform management teams, asset managers and other providers to ensure a proper balance between internal control and operational efficiency at the platform and operating project level and to ensure accurate, timely and comprehensive reporting of performance by each investment on a monthly basis.

  • Review and assessment, in conjunction with the technical operations team, of monthly operational and financial reports. Identification and resolution of performance issues.

  • Liaise with fund accounting team on accounting, fund valuation and reporting issues.

  • Ensure full and timely compliance with regulatory, project and client reporting requirements.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:

  • Background in accounting (ideally Big 4 experience with a CPA) with at least 3 years post graduate experience.

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in in finance, economics, accounting, business management is preferred

  • Professionals with strong and broad exposure to investment management, risk management, operations, finance and compliance in the Asset Management industry

  • Experience within a group finance or reporting role desirable.

  • Excellent Excel and financial analytical skills

  • Ability to interpret financial models and large volumes of contractual data.

  • Strong technical accounting skills, including detailed knowledge and experience in US GAAP.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to manage workload autonomously and effectively.

  • Ability to improve and scale existing processes.

  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to apply commercial judgment.

  • Inquisitive, detail-oriented, self-motivated.

  • Willing to travel.

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $225,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
