Job Information

BlackRock Vice President, Agile Project Manager in London, United Kingdom

About this role

The HR Ventures team, a newly established global collective of professionals, is dedicated to spearheading Mergers & Acquisitions, integrations, strategic partnerships, client opportunities, and expansion into new markets. Additionally, the team adeptly leads a diverse portfolio of large cross-functional HR projects, collaborating across the firm. These projects are driven to the highest professional standards, applying a consistent project management methodology that ensures transparent communication and regular updates to senior HR leadership and project stakeholders.

About this role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual who thrives in a dynamic and structured project management environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about contributing to significant, commercially impactful BlackRock projects and programs with substantial HR components. This role demands a proactive approach to maintain a clear and transparent communication flow within project teams, encouraging a strong sense of connection and direction.

This role is pivotal in crafting the project's trajectory and ensuring its successful delivery, making it an excellent opportunity for a top-tier project manager looking to make a significant impact within a global firm.

Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Global HR Ventures Lead to define a comprehensive project plan. Assemble the vital HR project team members to ensure a co-defined and clear project plan is in place.

  • Coordinate the project structure, including regular meetings with clear agendas, and diligently follow up on actions and activities. This includes partnering with the HR COO to develop key stakeholder updates.

  • Work closely with diverse HR groups to drive the day-to-day project elements, ensuring a regular cadence of project meetings as needed.

  • Use sophisticated project management tools to lead activities efficiently, focusing on action over reporting for all project participants.

  • Engage with broader teams, such as AIR (Analytics, Insights & Research), HR Risk and Compliance, to identify project risks and issues, ensuring they are well-governed. Also, ensure any reporting requirements are clearly communicated and understood by partner teams.

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of your projects, including regulations and client groups, by applying a natural sense of interest and curiosity.

  • Cultivate a positive project experience for the HR team by engaging and communicating clearly, making the project feel like a valuable opportunity rather than a daunting task.

  • Establish a structure for HR Steering Committees (Steerco's) to ensure an effective and efficient framework that supports leaders in making informed decisions.

What we are looking for:

  • A seasoned Project Manager with over 5 years of experience in a high-velocity environment within Financial Services, Professional Services, or Consultancy sectors. Prior HR function experience is not required.

  • An individual who is extraordinarily organized and adept at connecting the dots across diverse and varied teams.

  • A professional with a solid track record of implementing 'agile' methodologies in project environments.

  • Expertise in relevant tools and technologies, ensuring efficient and effective project execution.

  • Proven experience in leading large-scale meetings with a spectrum of collaborators, guaranteeing that business objectives are met, and decisions are made.

  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, to deliver concise updates to senior partners.

  • A high level of comfort with data analysis to inform and support project management tasks.

  • A natural curiosity and the confidence to ask questions in a collaborative manner with teams within and outside HR.

  • Experience working across time zones in a highly globalized organization.

  • Demonstrated understanding of risk management principles and their application within project context.
