You will be responsible for planning and implementing communications initiatives and campaigns for BlackRock in Asia. As part of your role, you will lead day-to-day media requests with the network of PR agencies and proactively drive media campaigns and positive media coverage to grow BlackRock’s ‘Share of Voice’ in the targeted media. He/she will also work on other corporate communications initiatives including brand/issues management, public affairs programs etc.
The successful individual will report to a Director of the team.
You will develop, foster and maintain strong working relationships with the media (print/broadcast/online) including business/financial media, trade and national media across the region
Plan and drive media relations activities that build greater knowledge and recognition of BlackRock’s brand and its line of business.
Handle and field all external media (regional and local) enquiries in a timely and efficient manner
Develop ideas for press interview and article placement opportunities and implement them
You will develop a full range of press materials including press releases, by-lined articles, media statements, key messages, media Q&As and briefing documents for our spokespeople
Develop a full range of digital and social media strategies to amplify existing content and activities across platforms, both internally and externally, including long term business priorities and reputation campaigns
Design and drive programs to leverage global digital assets and localize for regional deployment
Understand digital and social media metrics available to measure impact and reach of campaigns
Coordinate with PR agencies and other third-party vendors in planning and organizing media events, round tables, press conferences and educational seminars
Develop strong relationships with key internal stakeholders within the retail/wealth, institutional and iShares businesses, as well as other functions such as marketing, legal and compliance
Evaluate and manage speaking opportunities
Keep track of media outcomes and respective measurements
Develop deep knowledge of BlackRock and its services and products
Identify and cover corporate issues and crisis management, including developing messages and positioning strategies
Develop presentations regarding the firm’s internal and external initiatives with an emphasis on high-impact, visual, and engaging content representation
Support and/or drive internal communications initiatives
Experience and Qualifications:
Graduate or equivalent with communications, business/finance, journalism or marketing qualification
10-15 years of communications experience with 6-7 years of solid media relations expertise in the financial industry and/or PR agency. Knowledge of mutual funds and ETFs are essential
Strong experience with the development and deployment of digital and social media assets and comprehensive campaigns, including event-driven initiatives and regular thought leadership campaigns
A willingness to bring challenging and creative ideas that integrate traditional, digital, and social media
Positive relationships with business/financial journalists
Ability to earn credibility with a range of internal partners across the organization and provide strategic input on internal and external engagement efforts as necessary
A mature, independent achiever
An ambitious team player and a driven self-starter, with a positive mindset and excellent work ethic
Ability to multitask and operate with flexibility in a fast-paced environment to meet tight timelines
Strong project management skills and attention to details
Excellent command of verbal and written communication skills, both in English and Mandarin
