What are Aladdin and Aladdin Engineering?

  • You will be working on BlackRock's investment operating system called Aladdin. Aladdin is used both internally within BlackRock and externally by many financial institutions. Aladdin combines sophisticated risk analytics with comprehensive portfolio management, trading, and operations tools on a single platform to power informed decision-making and create a connective tissue for thousands of users investing worldwide.

  • Our development teams reside inside the Aladdin Engineering group. We collaboratively build the next generation of technology that changes the way information, people, and technology intersect for global investment firms. We build and package tools that manage trillions in assets and supports millions of financial instruments. We perform risk calculations and process millions of transactions for thousands of users every day worldwide!

Team Overview

The Identity Engineering team creates solutions for User Account Management, User Authentication, and 3rd Party SaaS integrations. We are transitioning legacy systems to modern technologies but do plenty of greenfield work as well.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Develop and maintain Java-based applications related to user account management, APIs and authentication.

  •  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement solutions.

  •  Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, ensuring high performance and responsiveness of applications.

  •  Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code.

  •  Mentor junior programmers and elevate the standard of quality for code.

  •  Troubleshoot and solve production issues

Qualifications:

  • Proven hands-on Software Development expertise in Java, with a focus on HTTP and related protocols.

  • 7-11 years of industry and relevant experience

  • Deep understanding of contemporary development practices and design using common design patterns.

  • Experience with test-driven development and familiarity with Okta or similar identity management solutions.

  • Experience and/or expertise with Authentication, Okta, SSO, SAML, OIDC, MFA and related technologies.

  • Experience with Protobuf, Perl, Python, or Lua are all pluses

Our hybrid work model
