Business Unit Overview:

The Performance Measurement and Attribution (PMA) team is a part of the Global Accounting and Product Services (GAAPS) group. PMA has reputation for aligning our performance and attribution solutions with the evolving needs of our clients.

  • Quality performance returns and attribution is a critical component to the feedback loop, and something our clients expect.

  • We focus on being students of technology and drive the deployment and development of the next generation attribution and performance tools.

  • We work together with a diverse group of teams to deliver performance measurement, evaluation, and attribution analysis for investment information and governance, globally.

We are seeking an energetic professional with hands-on technical experience in the design and development of Java-based web applications and interactive data visualization solutions. The individual must have a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and extensive experience building multi-tier applications. The ideal candidate will thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem-solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. Attention to detail and creativity in problem solving are critical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specification and Development of new workflows administered by the Gurgaon office that support total return data requirements.

  • Creates customized performance reporting based on client specifications using PERL, BIRT, or other report writing tools.

  • Leverages India time zone to troubleshoot production related issues in a timely manner and provide support to other groups around the globe.

  • Assists in retiring manual spreadsheet driven processes onto the BlackRock platform, leveraging the latest technology available.

  • Extracts and utilizes data from various sources such as databases, files, or servers for use in Performance calculation or reporting.

  • Enhances efficiency within India team through automated quality control process modeling and implementation. Communicate with project stakeholders in the US and EMEA while keeping deliverable ETAs accurate and transparent.

  • Coordinates with other key counterparts within the India office and around the globe to ensure that the client needs are serviced through Performance Team’s infrastructure.

  • Collaborates with internal PNL, Attribution, NAV, and GIPS groups to automate processes and reporting to create workload bandwidth. Task & project orientated, leaning heavily towards the latter; able to demonstrate ability to initiate, undertake and complete projects, whilst providing transparency on progress and challenge

Experience and Qualifications

  • MCA, B.TECH, MSC (Computer science), 5+ years of experience in the industry

  • Proficiency in PERL, JAVA, Unix, SQL, BIRT knowledge (good to have), SYBASE (relational databases a very strong plus)

  • Proven track record of having excellent programming skills/experience with Microsoft Technology like

  • VB/ VBA, MS Access (Forms, SQL/Queries, Reports, Macros), Excel, MS-Office

  • Previous Asset Management – Performance & Accounting experience preferable

  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to easily learn new technology.

  • Troubleshooting, Debugging, and other technical problem solving skills.

  • Experience in gathering and developing detailed functional requirements

  • Strong team player

  • Ability to work under pressure and under tight deadlines.

  • Attention to detail

  • Experience working in a global team a plus

  • Good presentation and creativity skills

  • Confident communicator
