Job Description:

Team Overview:

The Index Relationship management team, part of the BlackRock Data Services organization, is responsible for managing index requirements from internal BlackRock fund managers, and BlackRock Solutions (BRS) clients. BlackRock and its BlackRock Solutions clients utilize these indices as an integral part of investment and risk management, serving as benchmarks for Mutual Funds, ETFs, and Hedge Funds, Pensions, and other products. Index Relationship management team works closely with all index vendors, as well as internal stakeholder teams, Portfolio Management, Index Production, Index Implementation and other BlackRock Data Services groups.

The Index Relationship team is a global team that includes expertise in regional eccentricities.


  • The Relationship management team act as project managers responsible for understanding and documenting client requirements, assessing potential solutions, and ensuring key milestones are met.

  • Manage all index requests from BlackRock fund managers, including all aspects of rolling out multiple concurrent new indices, across various asset classes and strategies in Aladdin, including requirements capture, vendor data acquisition, data mapping and normalization, process testing and automation, and quality control.

  • BlackRock Solutions market the Aladdin® platform to external clients. The Relationship managers are responsible for managing the onboarding of all indices required by these clients, this will include working with multiple teams across the BlackRock, to ensure a smooth client implementation and experience.

  • Relationship management team should understand our client’s needs and work with them to plan for current and future index requirements.

  • Provide high quality client service externally and internally. Address inquiries and assist in resolving problems from clients and internal BlackRock stakeholders.

  • Initiate and drive Index platform improvements to support new business needs, minimize risk, and enhance quality.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, with preference to business disciplines such as Finance, Accounting, Economics, or technical disciplines.

  • BlackRock Solutions Aladdin® implementations require excellent project management skills to ensure that requirements are delivered on time and to specification.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • A “Student of the Markets” mentality: Intellectually curious with a passion for learning about the global financial markets and the investment management business.

  • Natural team player able to work in an innovative, entrepreneurial, and fast paced environment.

  • Basic knowledge of SQL is required. Knowledge of UNIX and Python is useful.

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in financial services.
